Winter splits Londoners into two opposing groups, those who love it and those who hate it. It is rare to encounter someone who is apathetic towards winter, unless they are apathetic about most things. I personally fall into the ‘hate winter’ grouping but let us review the arguments in favour of winter.

Those that eagerly await the onslaught of winter (pardon my clear bias) argue that it offers the perfect occasion to ‘wrap up all snug’ and ‘be cosy.’ I suppose by this they mean that winter offers them the opportunity to make use of their clothing. A valid argument, one does utilise a greater quantity of garments in the colder months for invaluable layering. Indoor venues are also endowed with ‘cosiness’ during the winter months, which is undeniably true.

Yet, I cannot comprehend the overarching sentiment behind a love of London winters; covering up and hiding away. Surely neither is very appealing. Also, the chances of your r4 card getting wet are greater. Though perhaps, the winter lovers are merely finding the silver lining on the grey rain cloud, something I should really attempt.
